Choosing the best feed for kittens and their mothers
Upon the arrival of a new cute inhabitant such as a kitten at our home, it is natural that we want to give it our undivided attention. Task number one here is finding the feed that would have all the elements that would contribute to the excellent health and longevity of your pet. Traditionally, we choose a feed for our pet depending on its age; however, HiQ has developed a feed that is suitable for the little ones just as it is for their moms.
First days
A newborn kitten weighs about 100 grams. Later, the kitten gains between 50 and 100 grams in weight every week of its life. During their first days, kittens’ diet consists strictly of mother’s milk. Then, the appearance of the first milk teeth marks the beginning of a transitional feeding period: the weaning. Usually, kittens are weaned until week 7, yet special dry feed (ideally, pre-moistened with warm water) can be introduced as early as in week 4.
Developed for the little ones and their mothers
Balanced nutrition is very important to expectant and lactating cats, too. That is why, HiQ has developed a feed that is suitable to the little ones and their moms as well. Premium dry feed ‘HiQ Kitten & Mother Care’ is specially designed for kittens up to 1 year old as well as expectant and lactating cats. It means that both the kittens and their mothers will get the essential nutrients that are vital for the preservation of excellent health and energy.
Key ingredients
Proteins. When it comes to choosing feed, make sure that one of the primary ingredients is meat, the main source of proteins. It is recommended that the protein content in the product is 30% or more. It is an important building material. ‘HiQ Kitten & Mother Care’ is rich in poultry. These animal-based proteins are the easiest to digest and are vital for maintaining the appropriate muscle tone and energy.
Fats. Fat content in feed should be around 20%. That is why ‘HiQ Kitten & Mother Care’ is enhanced with the valuable salmon oil rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. It is both a source of energy and a secret to excellent digestion, shining coat, healthy skin, and strong immunity.
Vitamins and minerals. To ensure proper formation of bone tissue and teeth, ‘HiQ Kitten & Mother Care’ is enriched with calcium. We also added other vitamins (A, E, D3, B1) and folic acid to this product. All these nutrients are vital to growing kittens and their mothers alike. After all, an expectant and lactating female passes vitamins and minerals onto her kittens.
The feeds formula is further enhanced with the addition of a special element, NanoAgent. It is a pure sedimentary mineral reduced to nanoparticles. Thanks to the lightweight nanoparticles, NanoAgent moves through the pet’s system faster than various nutrients. As they interact with NanoAgent, the nutrients pick up speed as well. This accelerates digestion and the elements (vitamins and etc.) are absorbed more efficiently.
Taurine. The formula of ‘HiQ Kitten & Mother Care’ features a very important element, taurine. The cat’s body does not produce this amino acid, yet it is vital to sight and the heart.
Feeding frequency
Kittens under 12 weeks old should be fed small portions 3–4 times daily; later the feeding should be done 3 times daily until the kittens reach their 6th month. Once the pet turns 6 months of age, feed it twice per day.
